The duration of treatment depends on the individual misalignment of the teeth. You will usually see the first results after just a few weeks. Complete correction is often achieved within 3 to 18 months.

Answers to frequently asked questions about Invisalign®
How long does treatment with Invisalign® take?
What types of dental problems can Invisalign® correct?
Invisalign can correct a variety of misaligned teeth, such as:
- crowding
- gap position
- crossbite
- Overbite and underbite
Traditional braces, ceramic brackets or aligners – what is the best choice for me?
Today, we can correct many misalignments just as effectively with Invisalign® aligners as with traditional fixed braces. Dental splints really come into their own in adult orthodontics, where their aesthetic advantages are particularly evident: they are virtually invisible.
Unlike traditional braces with metal brackets and metal wires, your teeth correction is barely noticeable. Even tooth-coloured ceramic brackets are still visible due to the metal wire. Invisalign® is therefore the ideal solution for anyone who wants inconspicuous and discreet teeth correction.
Are there any limitations to orthodontic treatment with Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is ideal for correcting most mild to moderate misalignments of the teeth. These include: crowding, gaps, crossbite, overbite and underbite.
However, there are some restrictions:
- Complex malocclusions,
- severely twisted teeth
- or complex orthodontic problems may require a different form of treatment.
In these cases, we recommend an orthodontist from our network. In addition, the treatment may not be ideal for patients with severely worn or damaged teeth.
We would be happy to arrange a personal consultation to determine whether Invisalign® is suitable for your individual needs and to discuss possible alternatives.
How often do I need to attend check-ups?
Check-ups usually take place every six to eight weeks. Here we review progress and plan the next steps.
What happens if I don't wear my Invisalign® aligners regularly?
For optimal results, you should wear your Invisalign® aligners for at least 22 hours a day and only remove them for eating, drinking and brushing your teeth. If you do not wear the aligners regularly, the progress of your treatment may slow down or stagnate. In the worst case, the subsequent pairs of aligners will no longer fit correctly. The laboratory will then have to make a new set of aligners, which means additional costs and time. Consistent wear is therefore crucial to the success of your Invisalign® treatment.
Can teeth shift again after treatment?
After aligner therapy, you will wear retainers to stabilise the treatment results in the long term. These retainers prevent your teeth from moving back into their old position. With this aftercare, we ensure that your new smile remains beautiful for a long time to come.
What is everyday life like with aligners: eating, drinking, smoking?
You should always remove your aligners before eating and drinking to prevent discolouration and damage. Only clear water can be safely consumed while wearing aligners. Smoking with aligners is not recommended as it can discolour and damage the material.
Do aligners cause pain during treatment?
In the first few days after inserting a new aligner, you may feel a slight pressure or tension. This is because your teeth are moving. These sensations are normal and usually disappear after a few days. Most patients find aligners much more comfortable than traditional braces.
How do I clean my aligners properly?
It is best to clean your aligners twice a day with a soft toothbrush, mild soap or special cleaning tablets. Avoid toothpaste, as it can scratch the clear material. Always rinse the aligners with lukewarm water – hot water can deform them.
For whom and for which types of misaligned teeth are aligners a suitable treatment?
Aligners are ideal for patients who want to correct mild to moderate misalignments of the teeth. They can efficiently treat crowding, gaps, crooked teeth or slight tilting. In cases of very complex or severe misalignments, we will be happy to discuss whether aligners or another treatment method is more suitable for you.
Can my colleagues see that I am wearing braces?
Invisalign® aligners are made of a virtually transparent plastic, making them almost invisible. Friends and colleagues will probably not notice that you are wearing dental braces. But don’t be surprised if you later receive compliments on your beautiful smile.
